draw; doubles part 01

Long story short, quite a large section of what I draw is now for university. I’ve just finished the first half of a project involving character and set design, ending in some concept art that I quite like.

The main inspirations for this are John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row (Dora Flood in particular), H. P. Lovecraft’s Miskatonic University library and his original descriptions of Arkham, Massachusetts. The first two drawings above are basic diagrams of how I envision the set to work, and thumbnail tests of the next few drawings. The first drawing below is the raw scan of the calligraphy ink painting of the set and the second two are the same setting with the correct lighting and character insert.

I’d say that while the set isn’t quite my usual style of image making, the character is pretty much right in the correct realm of weird.

Other things happening right now:

  1. I need urgent zine making time

  2. I’ve started up my collection of both really terrible and reasonably high quality watercolour paints

  3. I went through a few weeks of making paper cranes every time I felt anxious. Now I have moved on but also have a shit ton of paper cranes sitting on my bookshelf

  4. Owning a scanner and printer is probably one of the best things to have ever happened to me

  5. I’m very grateful for being so meticulous with my diary planning last year because my 2015 diary has helped me actually remember what the fuck I did all year

Alright,

Annie.
